2009 聯合國國際選美 Appearance in San Francisco

Appearance in San Francisco

Wednesday, Aug 12, 2009 2:46AM

Before coming back to Hong Kong, I made my last appearance in the Bay Area at the PISTAHAN PARADE on Aug 8, and the Miss Asian America Pageant VIP and Press Reception on Aug 7.

PISTAHAN PARADE is the only major Filipino parade in the West Coast, it is a display of community pride along San Francisco’s main street – Market Street – from the Embarcadero to the Yerba Buena Gardens, the crown jewel of SF’s cultural district. Colorful floats, historical themes and lively community contingents has helped build Pistahan Parade, as THE Filipino counterpart of San Francisco’s great cultural institutions like Chinese New Year Parade, Carnaval, St. Patrick’s Parade, among others.

July - August are very busy and fulfilling months for me. I have competed in the United Nation Pageants International in Jamaica two weeks ago. It's a wonderful experience, as it's my first time in Jamaica and first time in an International Pageant.

There are 5 divisions in for the contest, Teen (Age 12-17), Miss (Age 18-29), Ms (Age 30-49), Mrs (married, Age 25-49), Miss Elite (Age 50+)

Pageant week! So fun!

First time taking place outside the United States, the prestigious pageant was truly a mixture of many nationalities brought together by the color and pageantry of the evening. For the 17 final delegates of this year’s pageant, it was an exercise in confidence to hold up their community services, accomplishments and poise to a critical gaze.

Representing traditions from China to South Africa, women from different age groups and ethnicity competed in the ethnic costume, fitness, fashion, evening wear, platform and interview categories.
